Weekly Words of Wisdom: Y is for YOGA – Obvs. 🙂 When I began practicing yoga (a long time ago) I really didn’t know what to expect. I had been curious about the practice for awhile, and back in my 30’s I was mostly focused on the physical aspects of yoga. I had never been athletically inclined, and yoga helped me feel strong in my body for the first time in my life. It was an amazing feeling!

Over the years, as my yoga practice has evolved, I still enjoy the physical postures and the strength I feel in my body. But yoga has another side – an almost magical side – that has seeped in and healed me on a very deep level.

Releasing tension held in the body by using yoga postures/stretches and breathing techniques is such a back-to-basics way to care for ourselves. It’s the simplest yet most powerful work I know.

I knew from the very beginning that yoga would remain part of who I was for years to come. I remember thinking in those early days that it would be SO COOL to be a yoga teacher. To be able to help someone feel the way I felt at the end of a yoga class? That would be the most amazing thing ever.

And I was right. It is SO amazing!

Yoga changed my life in many ways, and now I have the honor of witnessing its gifts landing in my students. My life is awesome that way.

Search for a yoga class that fits you. Search for a yoga teacher that helps you feel comfortable on your mat. Keep showing up for your practice, and prepare to be amazed.
